About the Artist<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Artist Statement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

My work begins where the body stops being a subject and becomes a medium. For over two decades, I have photographed the nude not to expose but to transform\u2014treating flesh as landscape, architecture, relic, or light itself. The body in my photographs is never simply present; it is always becoming something else.<\/p>\n

Each series opens a different threshold. In UnNude<\/em>, the figure is reduced to sculptural geometry\u2014curves and shadows that could be dunes, could be stone. Chimera<\/em> fractures the body through damaged mirrors and projected light, creating anatomies that exist only in the camera’s eye. Antemortem<\/em> lingers in the space before disappearance, where veils and long exposures render the figure as something half-remembered. Ecotone<\/em> dissolves the boundary between skin and soil, placing bodies among horses, coastlines, and volcanic rock until it becomes unclear where the human ends and the land begins.<\/p>\n

In Melancholia<\/em>, I photograph withdrawal\u2014figures curled into corners, smoke rising, light fading. Niche<\/em> explores the quiet negotiations between body and domestic space: curtains, cats, the weight of an empty afternoon. Motus<\/em> captures movement not as action but as accumulation\u2014the blur of a gesture, the heat left behind after a turn. Elsewhere<\/em> places nude figures in urban spaces where they do not belong, creating apparitions in alleyways and on canal bridges. Crave<\/em> confronts desire directly: neon light, fogged glass, the tension between revelation and obstruction. And in Lucida<\/em>, the body disappears entirely into ultraviolet glow, painted and radiant, transformed into myth.<\/p>\n

I work primarily in-camera. The distortions in Chimera<\/em> come from physical mirrors, not software. The blur in Motus<\/em> comes from long exposures, not post-production. This is not a rejection of digital tools but a commitment to presence\u2014to being in the room when the image happens, to collaborating with light and time rather than correcting them later.<\/p>\n

I do not pursue provocation. I pursue resonance. These photographs are not records of bodies; they are encounters that continue to unfold in the viewer’s memory.<\/p>\n

Biography<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Burak Bulut Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m is a photographer and educator based in Berlin, working internationally. His practice spans intimate portraiture, performative photography, and fine art nude work that explores the intersections of body, light, and emotional states.<\/p>\n

Born in Istanbul, Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m began his career as an arts journalist before turning fully to photography. He opened his first studio in 2005 and has since worked with international brands, directed creative teams, and mentored over 5,000 photography students through workshops and professional training programmes.<\/p>\n

From 2018 to 2026, he served as a Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador<\/strong>. He is a member of the German Portrait Photography Society (BPP)<\/strong> and holds an IGBK International Artist Card<\/strong>, facilitating his professional mobility and recognition as a visual artist across borders.<\/p>\n

His work has been exhibited across Europe, including solo presentations such as In Haste \/ Ayak\u00fcst\u00fc<\/em> (VoBa & Abraham-Gumbel-Saal, 2019) and Landsnude<\/em> (Greece, 2015). Selected works are held in private collections and available through major art platforms.<\/p>\n

All artworks are available as Limited Edition Fine Art Prints<\/strong>\u2014typically in editions of 5 + 1 Artist Proof<\/strong>. Each piece is printed on archival-quality paper such as Hahnem\u00fchle Photo Rag, Baryta, or FineArt Pearl<\/strong>, chosen specifically to enhance the texture and tonal range of each photograph.<\/p>\n
